ANNOUNCEMENT: Sky UK secures another successful conviction for card-sharing

16 March 2015

An operator of a card-sharing network has been found guilty in Harrow Crown Court of three charges relating to card sharing. Although the defendant tried for a third time to change his plea to “not guilty”, the judge ruled that the guilty plea should stand and found the defendant guilty of distributing devices which prejudiced BSkyB’s (now Sky UK) business. He was also convicted of being in possession of criminal property and being in possession of fraudulent decoders. For these latter two charges the defendant was sentenced to 6 months and 3 months imprisonment respectively, suspended for 12 months, with both sentences running concurrently. Counsel and Police also agreed that the seized assets valued at £37,290 should be forfeited.
