EMPACT (European Multidisciplinary Platform Against Criminal Threats) is a security initiative driven by EU Member States to identify, prioritise and address threats posed by organised and serious international crime. During 2024, the law enforcement bodies that are part of EMPACT, supported by relevant EU agencies and international institutions, will continue working around the clock to combat audiovisual piracy in Europe and beyond. In order to do that, we will invest efforts in building an EU expert group working on this specific field, while facilitating cross-border cooperation and information sharing. The ultimate goal would be to organise coordinated actions to identify and take down illegal streaming services, as well as dismantling the criminal groups standing behind these.
In partnership with AAPA, we will continue looking for ways how to improve the capacity of the European law enforcement experts to tackle this form of crime, taking stock of the specialised knowledge and skills of our private sector partners.Gabriel TsekovDriver of EMPACT IP Crime, Counterfeiting of goods and currencies, General Directorate "Combating Organized Crime", Ministry of Interior of Bulgaria
