The Serbian police said on Friday that charges had been filed against two men for video piracy on two web sites which featured locally-produced movies and series.
The two men, aged 40 and 31 whose names were not released, were charged with copyright infringement for allowing access to movies and series on the web sites filmovi24h.com and serije.online and inflicting financial damages on the copyright holders.
The police seized computers and found evidence of payments received through banks and online.
The United Media company said in a press release that it welcomes the reaction by state bodies over Internet piracy and added that illegal streaming harms local production of movies and series.
The two web sites included United Media’s premium production series such as My Father’s Killers, Branded on Court and several others.
“At a moment when United Media is airing the Shadows Over the Balkans series (season 2) in binge option with all episodes available at once, the speedy and effective operation by state bodies against the pirates is exceptionally important in preventing serious damage to production,” the press release said.
United Media is using the latest detection methods to protect its content and is actively cooperation with the police in finding and processing the perpetrators of crimes like this, it said. N1 TV is part of United Media.
